The antique metropolitan of Ayodhya is known by most to be the background of the prehistoric Hindu larger-than-life epic Ramayana and is known to be the place of birth of the Deity king Ram.
Overview
The city is situated on the banks of the Sarayu River and was the capital of the prehistoric empire of Kosala. The city was known to be created by the Hindu divinity Manu and is supposed to be more than 9000 years old. It is one of the most patronized tourist spots and is well-known for its countless shrines which are visited by individuals of various Indian religious convictions.
